I use Helios 44-2, Mir1V and Jupiter 9 and I can say that the focus confirmation and is not always accurate. I trained my eyes and most of the time I am fast and accurate even without focusing screen(don't want to lose spot metering).

I am using Kx (not Kr - but that does not matter... BF/FF issues are old) nowadays only w/ 2 AF primes (FA50/1.4 and FA35/2.0) - I know the values for both that I need to enter to account for tungsten light and properly aligned split prism focusing screen instantly will tell me if I need the correction, because I can see if AF misfocusing under the particular light... but that is just because I personally can w/o issues limit myself to only 2 lenses to use indoors (and I never use more than one lens at a time anyways - whatever I selected to use - I will use for the whole day)...

Keeping mine for sure! Does a great job taking the kind of pictures i like (outdoors, around sunset time). Indoors I use the liveview to manually adjust focus, which works ok and reasonably fast, if your used to it!

Greetings

I don't know what you are saying. With Pentax live view CDAF is painfully slow. If you want I can have it record and show it to you.

Basically live view is a no no on Pentax K-r.

I don't agree with you. LV CDAF is not so slow, as you say.

Right, it was slow for me. So, I am returning. If it wasn't slow for you, why did you return?

Because I want to use the viewfinder. For me, it's essential. WTF, it's a (d)SLR, not a compact! Live View is a recent dSLR feature. Using the LV it's not an argument for me. If I want to use LCD screen, I have the Fujifilm F40FD.
First, I returned it because of the AF issues. No other problems with the camera. On the contrary... But AF errors are too important to me.

Even though I think LV is (still) just a extra feature on DSLRs I must admit that it is really fast on K-r. Sony is doing good job making LV veeery fast.

The reviews say Pentax's CDAF is painfully slow in live view, yes, they do.

Depends on there definition of slow.

I have Canon 5D MarkII , love the thing to death, but AF in Live View on this camera although very accurate, is slower then on K-r

It doesn't matter though, nobody in the right mind will photograph moving subjects using Live View anyways.

Buddy, you had the camera. Let the reviews. And, more important, let the others who "played" with other cameras and can compare them, to issue opinions.

Can I suggest everyone flood the Instant chat lines here in the US so we can have it clearly documented that the issue is not isolated, and common?

More important would be a petition issued from this forum to Pentax, signed by the members, Kr/K5 owners or not. There are already rather scientific studies who can argument this petition. Anyone dare to do it?

How do we do a petition here? I can create a word document if you would like!
