I mainly shoot landscape photography so this issue hasn't affected me yet. I sent in my camera to get fixed but it seems to need the firmware update. I have many great shots with this camera and continue to fall in love with my K-r. It is a fantastic camera! I wonder if wedding photographer's are having real world issues? I will be taking many indoor family shots next week with a fast lens. I hope they turn out fine.

I believe it is a Manfrotto video head.
The Manfrotto 501HDV and cheaper 701HDV is really good.

Definitely keeping mine -- I tried to reproduce some kind of FF issue and can't unless I purposely try. I like to use manual settings anyway indoors for what I use it for, so I have no problems with it -- so far. Personally I wouldn't return it unless it was a glaring error that I was unable to get around. I also have the extended 2 year warranty from B&H and I assume that will take care of any problems that I might detect in the future!
