Firmware 1.02 - will it be the revelation?

Awaiting it, I've opened this topic where we can post opinions about the solutions embedded in this incoming (?) firmware. Will the ff issue corected? That's the big question. Depending on this, I'll decide if I'll re-buy the Kr or else.

I've heard this being the case for both the upcoming K-5 and K-r firmware. Supposedly the fix is in development

I hope so, because these two amazing cameras really deserve it.

I really hope it will be released soon and that it will fix the FF.
Even if I wanted to buy a different camera I don't have any choice that would meet my requirements. (except the ~$150-200 more expensive cameras like D90).

I hope it'll fix the battery indicator problem too.

While I hope that they will totally eliminate the FF problem, I doubt that it will be so. At most, probably in the same level as the previous models.

Because that would then render the K-5's secondary sensor useless, since they now have figured through software how to compensate for the different lights.

So it maybe not technically possible at the moment, or marketing (if Pentax ever had one ) would not let it out (in reference to the K-5 2nd sensor stated above)

I was deeply impressed by the article of a member of this forum. I believe this is applicable to Kr too. I congratulate him for this amazing work! Maybe Pentax will see this extraordinary article and will adjust their work on the new firmware.

ursamajor, thanks for the link to the article - really impressive. It is a very important article that potentially will eliminate speculations whether the FF issue exists in K-5 and K-r among the pentax community, or at least the intelligent part of it.

As of right now, the K-r is missing from the list of firmware updates.
Software Downloads : Support & Service : PENTAX

Until I did some research on the front focus issue of the K-r and K-5, I was going to sell my K-x and buy a K-r. I want the autofocus point viewfinder illumination and the stop motion feature. For now, I'm sticking with the K-x.

Aaa, but the update is still available on the european sites. Of course, I'm talking about 1.01.

Should the Kr owners enjoy this too?

They won't issue a FIX for K-r. Because come August, it is time for

K-q. We are getting very close to that date.

Voila!

Not really. I tried copying a rumour from here to an SD card and the camera said: Error - Not Enough Firm Detected in New Firmware, Rejecting... when I tried to install it.

Nice.
It would be a terrible mistake of Pentax, Hypo.

The next model certainly will not have the features/qualities of Kr, otherwise the Kr will remain on the shelves of stores. I'm affraid of that.
