Buying a K - r - Which Kit Should I Get?

I am buying my first DSLR - I am sold on the K - r. (I have had some superzoom digital fixed lens cameras and am now finding that they are limited and slow.) What I don't know is whether to get the 18-55 kit or that plus the 55- 300 DAL. I already have some old Pentax Autofocus lenses the SMC Pentax-F 35-70mm F3.5-4.5 and the Tamron AF 28-200mm F/3.8-5.6 XR Di LD Aspherical [IF] MACRO. What think you all? I am thinking get the camera with the standard kit lens and then if the lenses I have seem inadequate - go with the DA 55-300.

I would personally recommend getting the DA55-300. It is a great budget lens, and gives you extra bit of length and AF.

Of course depending on your budget.

Skip the kit lenses...

I would skip the kit lenses since you got lenses to start can buy the body only and save for a really good lens...i hardly use my kit lens no more (my tamron 28-75 f2,8 is always on).
You got 200 mm focal range covered so i would skip the 55-300 unless you really need those extra 100mm (and if you need them maybe you already know for what, and it is worth saving the money for a better lens that fills that purpose).

If you decide to go with the body only you will, at some point, be wanting something wider than what you got (there are some fine lenses out there so save the kit lens money for those. I'm dreaming about a 14mm or the Sigma 10-20...mmm damn LBA, i'm lucky to have a Gf who fights and controls it).

Welcome, and be sure to tell us what you decide (and then show us some fotos when you are equiped).

Go for the kit with the DA L 55-300. I didn't buy it as part of the kit and ended up paying more for it later.

Basically if the kit difference in price vs Body only is less than a DA 55-300 New, AND it is a lens you see yourself getting in the future , Then go for it!
I got a Kx for my wife and I would of got the 55-300 if it was available here.
As for the 18-55 kit I only use it when I have my 17-70mm on my K7 and I want a Wide zoom on the Kx aswell, Otherwise I never use it- its a great little lens though!

I would go for the 300 as well
I got the 50-200 kit (only extra $150AUD)
as the 55-300 is not available
with the camera in Australia
