K-r Shutter... vibration?

I saw one other post about this, but it didn't seem conclusive.

When I press the shutter, the shutter clicks as normal. But when the shutter closes, I hear this metal-vibration sort of sound.

Is this normal?

It could be the SR. When you half-press the shutter button, the SR will take 1-2 s to stabilise the sensor (shake reduction) before the SR symbol (Green hand) appears in the viewfinder.

The SR mihgt be the noise that you hear, but it is usually not a metallic sound. (I do not have a K-r but K7, with no metallic sound.)

Hope that the comment will help....

Hmm it's not the SR (i think, i turned it off and tried again) because you hear the sound after you fully push down the shutter button. You hear it after the shutter goes down or the mirror flips back into place.

I'm hoping it's not the mirror...

Sort of sounds like when you hit a metal railing with your hands. You hear the vibration. Obviously it's not that loud though...

If I put my ear close to the camera I can hear that sound but I really have to listen closely in a quiet environment. So I'd say it's normal unless the sound you're hearing is louder.

okay when I took off the lens and shot it like that, the sound is basically gone. well it's hardly noticeable.

so that means it's something to do with the lens?

yes, the sound comes from the lens..probably from the aperture spring..that is why i asked you to try another lens..

also try that lens to another body..

i have this problem with my k200d before..different lenses will produce different degrees of is not lens only problem or body only is the combo problem..

i think the sound is only noticeable with the combo of your both body + lens..
