k-r video: locking exposure?

Sorry for the cross-post, but no response on the video forum, thought some savvy K-r users here might know!

Searched the forums for advice on the workaround to lock shutter speed/ISO in the K-r. I know I've read that it can be done but can't find the thread!

Have exposure control in the video menu set to "auto." I press the AE-L button (assigned in the menus to lock exposure) in "Program" mode to lock exposure, and then turn the dial to Video. This is the process I understand can lock exposure in the K-x? Doesn't seem to do so in the K-r (at least not in my skilled hands!).

With any of my AF, auto-exposure lenses, this doesn't seem to work. The exposure will compensate if I point the camera at a darker or lighter spot...?

Thanks for any advice!
