What do the AF indicators mean ?

Simple enough question, but I cannot see it covered on the forum, in the manual or via google (maybe I'm searching for the wrong terms ?).

For example what does it mean when you see a solid red indicator and a hollow one at the same time - I'm guessing the solid one is the primary focus but it would be nice to know for sure.

Looks like a good question, I searched myself... It seems there is only one hollow indicator - and its located in the center of the viewfinder. Maybe its an aid for composing photo's.

the hollow one is the middle AF point for spot metering and the solid ones are the other AF points. Scroll about half way down this link for a picture and caption:

or if you just want to see the shape differences, I basically use the shapes to help me know which AF point has been selected:

Ok so the centre one is always hollow and basically whichever indicators light, those are the areas that the camera has focussed upon, makes sense. Thanks.
