Did I get robbed or what?

Hello. I just bought a new Pentax KR from my favorite store. It's the only one they had left and they were using it as a store demo. I took a picture with it and the number reported by the camera is "100-8082". Does that mean that this camera had over 8000 actuations or am I being paranoid? With my old K200, I had less than 1300 actuations in 2 years. Should I return it or what? Thanks for any help or opinions. Take care.
Mike in Quebec.

The picture number is not a reliable indicator of how many shutter actuations the camera has.

To find out the shutter count use PhotoMe on Window$ or ExifTool if you have a Mac.

Store demoes are as it implies used by all employees and customers. I hope you didn't pay full price for it? If that's case then you did get robbed.

Finally, I didn't get robbed at all!

After checking the number of actuations with PhotoME, the real number is 177, not 8082. According to the store where I got it, it seems that Pentax starts file numbering at 8000 for this camera, maybe because of the new firmware. Anyway, they had the camera for sale for only 2 weeks so it seems that 8082 would be a lot of instore testing. They said that Nikon does the same for some models. As to the price I paid, since I am a member of a photo club here in Candiac, the dealer sells us cameras for their cost plus 10% which comes out to $616. with the 18-55mm lens. I also got a 8 gig memory card inside so it wasn't a bad deal. Thanks for your help and you might see a fine K200D for sale here soon with only less that 1500 actuations.

All my pentax bodies had about 200 actuations show up right out of the box, so it may not have even been used.
