Noisy KR - My old was K100D

I received my used Pentax KR today. It is like new and I dont think it was abused. I was user of K100D that I sold and bought KR.

My question is that camera shutter is noisy. Is it same with you guys or I blame the used nature of my camera. Focusing is blazing fast and that dont have any noise but shutter is.

When I click, its shutter is just not something that I can comfortably use in calm environment like meeting or gallery or something. When you click, everyone knows that someone has pressed shutter.

Thanks
Abbas

Yeah the K-r is, perhaps, the loudest camera ever created. My K-7 is so quiet for both focus and shutter, it's a real shock moving between the two.

For what it's worth, I still feel my K100D sounds like a gun going off <g>. K10D isn't exactly quiet, but in comparison to the K100D, it's a vast improvement. It's my understanding that the K7 and K5 are exponentially quieter than either of my two "beasts". Time to start saving my pennies. Quick sidenote, all my Pentax film cameras are waaay quieter than my digitals...

Best,
Kevin

KR is quiter than K100d?

May be the decibel factor is same, which I doubt it, but the different sharp shutter noise of KR is no doubt a machine gun

I guess I'm lucky because I primarily do landscapes and rather like the positive feedback of the shutter sound.

indeed it is... K100d is really noisy, not machine gun like, just a loud 'slap'... K100 sounds louder to me anyways...

I went to K100d -> K2000d -> K-x. I didn't find much difference in the loudness of the shutter, but the K100d's had a more refined sound. Maybe there's just the slightest amount of reverb with the K-x/K-r ?

The K100D is embarrassing to shoot because of the sound. K20D was a relief, as was the K-5.
