K5 or K20D focusing screen to K-r

Is there any possibility to apply the focusing screen designed for K-5 or K20D to a K-r?

I'd like to have a grid in the viewfinder, an I wonder whether the ML-60 or LL-80 Focusing screen would fit my K-r...

the K-r uses the same screen size as the K100D. Screens for the K10D/K20D or K5/K7 are different dimensions and are not interchangeable. It would be best to just buy the screen that fits the K-r and know that it will work rather than trying to have a screen from a different design model cut to fit.

So are the screens for the K5 and the K20 the same? I've been wondering about that. The only reason I keep the K20 to use the lensbaby with a split prism screen, otherwise I miss to many shots.

Although I haven't got the K-5 or K20D, I think they differ in sizes. However, I have torn down my not working P30 and gotten the focusing screen out of it. I've cut it using the method shown in this

It works perfectly. Just cut it precisely, put into the body and voila.

A little off-topic perhaps, but does anyone know where I can find the precise dimensions of the K-r's focusing screen, including thickness? I have a couple old film SLRs, in crappy condition, but with wonderful split prisms, and I was thinking about trying my hand at cutting one down to size as a winter project. I'm mainly concerned with the thickness of them and how it compares to the K-r's.

As soon as I get home, I'll measure it and post the results.

K-r stock focusing screen dimensions (width/height/depth):

In milimeters: 26.2/17.9/1.3

In 1/32": 33/22.5/1.6.

How do you measure with such precision in mm? Do you use an electronic tool or something?

I use a vernier caliper, with the precision of 0.05 mm. (the inch dimensions are just conversions, I'm from continental Europe)

Hehe. But such precision doesn't matter anyway. I have checked the dimensions of my two DIY focusing screens using just a ruler and they work perfectly

I have got one identical to this one. It's fantastic.

Thanks for the answers, guys. Much appreciated. I'll be gently ripping the old ones out some day soon to see if they can be adapted.

Which Pentax SLR body that has the best focusing screen that is suitable for the current Pentax DSLR? I have a lot of old Pentax SLR bodies laying in my basement so I might try to recycle the focusing screen for my K10D which is now dedicated to MF lenses.
