Green button best use?

Hi all

What do you think makes the best use of the green button? I've currently got it assigned for preview but I wonder if maybe there's a better use for it.

Cheers, Alex

I've found it 100% useless with the limited functions you can map to it. It should allow you to set it to a lot more things than all of the entirely unused functions it does have.

I never used the Green Button until I mounted legacy glass... then it becomes priceless. Actually prior to using it on manual lenses, I used it for returning +/- in Av / Tv modes back to zero - saves on e-dial scrolling.

I always used it for TV shift (shutter speed) in M mode with spot metering. I wish my Canons had it.

Changing the function of the green button seems to gimp P-exposure mode.

I had green button do digital preview (seemed reasonably useful) but then if I switched to P-mode, turning the e-dial did absolutely nothing.

Am I missing something here? Because this seems to make the green button pretty useless.

On my K-x, which functions identically in this respect, I use this ALL the time in M mode. It's become routine for me.

I've never used it or P mode. My camera lives in Tv or Av modes.

USER mode in Program with a MTF priority. I use the scroll wheels and green button a lot.

- Exposure compensation when needed, reset with EC button + green button.
- ISO button when needed, reset with ISO button + green button to auto ISO.

When I want an aperture smaller or larger than MTF, I change it and reset with the green button.
When I want to control the shutter speed I do that, but reset when needed with the green button.

I'll only use modes like Av and Tv when I have a really specific reason, mostly to do with external flash. Even then, exposure compensation and ISO need the green button to reset.

TAv, Manual, etc... green button to let the camera to meter and set shutter/aperture as a good starting point.

See. my feeble brain just can't put all that stuff together. I was excited when I could finally figure out how to control depth of field.

Just think of the green button as a reset button and one-time auto button. It probably can do more, but that's what I use it for.

Buy a manual A series lens and use it for Tv shift.
