What's In Your Bag?

Hi all. I am new to the forums but I hope this isn't an over-asked question. I am very curious what the rest of you guys and gals keep in your bag. Walking around lenses, macros, teles, flash, filters, etc. What gear helps you make the most of your K-r?

My normal bag consists of a few primes, two super wide's (8,14), one wide (28), one normal (50/55) and one mid (85), the rest of the space in the bag is occupied by a couple of beers...

With my K20D are some of the usual zooms: DA10-17, Tamron 10-24, DA18-250, F35-70.
And the usual tiny primes: Meyer 40/4.5; CZJ Tessar 50/2.8 (12 iris blades); Enna 100/4.5.
And whatever is LOTD (lens-of-the-day). And an Olympus XA with film. And a lens pen.

Also a baggie with the Raynox DXR-250 and some +dioptre strap-ons and adapter rings.
And another bag stuffed with memory cards and batteries, and a 62mm split-ND filter.
Sometimes I also add my Sony DCR-V1 support bag: B&W and CC and IR filters, IR light, etc.

And passport, pills, collapsed kite, rescue scissors, tinfoil hat -- the usual life-support.
It's a start.

Usually we [me and my girlfriend] have to decide every day whether it will be a K-mount day or an M42 one (the M28/2.8 and M50/1.7 cover the wide-normal range, while the Takumar 50/1.4, Panagor 55/3 macro, Helios 58/2, Jupiter 135/3.5 and Takumar 200/4 cover the normal-long and close-focus range, in addition to a set of M42 extension tubes). So basically, if we need light, we decide upon K-mount, otherwise M42 is great fun Obviously the M42 adapter is a must have, along with the AA battery adapter and a microfiber cloth.

i keep a "light" bag :

- K-x with DA 40 mounted,
- 18-55 kit lense
- Kiron 28/2

Or (film version)

- SuperA (also called Super Program) with A 50/1.7 mounted
- Kiron 28/2
- Jupiter 9 85/2.
(sometime i add a Olympus OM 10. Both are loaded with B&W film -Tmax, Ilford Delta, or fuji version 400iso)

Something to clean my front element, and if i think about it, some batteries

I also travel light. Pentax K-R, Pentax 16-45mm and 55-300mm lenses, two spare batteries, circular polarizers, plus the usual stuff like a soft brush and some lens tissue. Depending on where I'm going, I sometimes include a Metz MZ-3 flash.

My bag is stuffed full of goodies
Pentax K-r
SMC Pentax DAL 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 AF zoom lens
SMC Pentax DA 50-200mm 1:4-5.6 AF zoom lens
Sigma 100-300mm 1:4.5-6.7 AF zoom lens
SMC Pentax-M 50mm 1:1.7 prime lens
Makinon 28mm 1:2.8 prime lens

i have a fetish for lenses and have had trouble tracking down a bag to fit all of this so at the moment i am using an old video camera bag that has started to fall apart

I use a Pentax sling bag and it has the K-r, a MZ5n film camera, 35 DA, 28M 17-28 F fisheye, 50 1.7 FA and 200 M lenses. Also SD cards, spare battery and a few rolls of film. Sometimes I will leave one or two of these lenses out and grab something out of my wife's bag. The Sigma 70-200 2.8 does not fit in the bag at all.

Depends on what I'm shooting

For my residential real estate photography my bag contains K2000, K-r, two AF-540FGZs, Sigma 10-20, Pentax 12-24, Pentax 16-50, Pentax 55-300.

For serious landscape/nature photography my bag contains K-5, the 12-24, 16-50, and then either the 50-135 or 55-300.

For people/portrait photography I carry my K-5, 16-50, 50-135, and Canon 50D with Canon 17-85

Great posts. Lots of good information. And, of course, the query was open to all pentaxers, not just the K-r users. Being new to the K-r, I was just curious to see how people are maximizing their performance. So far, I'm pleased with the performance but I'd like to see what I can do with higher quality lenses.

Prior to this camera, I owned a D60 that spent almost every moment of its life mated to a sigma 17-70. I really love that lens so I expect I'll get the newer model for this camera. Other than that, I'm kinda playing it by ear. Unfortunately, where I live, there aren't many camera shops that carry pentax products, so, I am forced to order stuff online and hope I like it. So, knowing what Pentax people think of a certain product is quite useful.

What's in my bag

Several configurations depending on what I am doing.

Biggest bag (a old Lowe Pro with 4 lens compartments and 1 for body with lens mounted) holds my K20, a 360 strobe, DA's 14-45 and 50-200, SMC-A's 135 f2.8, 50 f1.4, 24 f2.8 and in addition a SMC-M 50 f4.0 Macro and Sigma MF 90 f/2.8 Macro, remote release, circ polarizers, 2 spare batteries, misc cleaning cloths etc.
There are also a SMC-A 28 f2.8, 35 f2.8, 200 f/4.0 and 35-105 f3.5 available. They sometimes make their appearances as does a MX or LX body when film is the medium of the day.

My walk-around set-up is a small Domke belt bag that will hold either the two DA's or up to 4 of the primes or two of them and the strobe with one more lens mounted on the body hanging on my shoulder. Lately it has been the two macros, perhaps the 16-45 and if I think I may need it, the strobe.

I have never done work requiring long telephotos or super-wide.
