Filter size is generally indicated by a Greek capital phi (Φ) followed by the size in mm (e.g. Φ52) somewhere on the lens - frequently the rim of the front element.
Just a warning: before you go blowing money on 52mm filters for the DAL 18-55, ask yourself whether you're intending to upgrade it in the near future. None of the typical upgrade zooms (DA 16-45, 17-70, Sigma 17-70, Tamron 17-50, etc.) use 52mm filters and neither does, say, the DA 35 F2.4 prime. Given that you're only ever going to use one neutral density or polarizing filter at a time, filter size could be something that influences your purchasing decision - buying filters to cover multiple barrel sizes gets really expensive really quickly.
67mm seems to be a size used by a good range of useful / desirable zoom lenses: DA 16-45 F4, DA 17-70 F4, Tamron 17-50 F2.8, DA* 50-135 F2.8, DA* 60-250 F4. Alternatively, if you're lusting after a set of limited primes, they all seem to use a filter size of 49mm.
