Before I order K-r-one more question

I'm going to go ahead and order tomorrow to be sure I get a white one before they're gone. Does PTTL flash work with manual lenses and other accessories, such as a bellows or extension tubes?

P-TTL works with A-type manual lenses, TCs and tubes. It does NOT work with K- and M-type and screwmount lenses and extension (tubes or bellows). A-type tubes are fairly rare and costly; the usual substitute is to remove the glass from old A-type TCs. Hope this helps!

Yup. With manual lenses, you have to control the flash exposure manually also. This applies to all Pentax DSLRs except for the *istD and *istDS, which still featured the old TTL flash system.

OK thanks guys. So there's really no point in buying the AF-360FGZ flash if I won't have TTL all the time. That saves me a couple hundred $$ I'll just use my Nikon flashes in non TTL auto mode(where you set the same aperture and ISO on the flash and camera and sensor on flash determines correct output). I just need to connect them with non dedicated cord so only the contact in the center makes the connection. My first Nikon DSLR had D-TTL, and that sucked. My D300 has I-TTL, which was a big improvement, but TTL flash went coocoo on the camera about a year ago. So I've learned how to use manual and non TTL auto modes and have pretty much mastered it. I miss the film days-TTL flash all the time.

I'm not certain you'll need that cord. For a while, I shot with a k10D and Nikon SB-26 in auto mode as you describe. Didn't notice any problem with other connection points. They simply didn't talk to one another.

In fact, I use my Pentax PTTL-capable Metz in auto mode as I seem to get somewhat better results. Go for it!

Thanks. I'll try it.
