What about the 50-200 kit lens? This is the same size (52mm) as the 18-55 - should I use the same hood?
Should be fine, but the reverse may not be true. Generally, short focal lengths need wider hoods to accommodate their wider angle of view, and longer focal lengths can use more cylindrical hoods due to the narrower angle of view. Cylindrical telephoto style hoods will give better flare/glare protection on longer lenses, but a wide angle hood is much better than nothing.
