How do i turn off the rear LCD panel

I was playing with low light last night, and found the LCD too bright and distracting.

I know how to dim it, but how do I temporarily shut it off so it doesn't blind me at night ???

thanks

There's also a setting to disable the status screen, which will prevent the LCD from coming on unless you want to go into the menu or playback mode.

I Guess press "Info" twice would do the trick. simple and yet not disturbing
to dim it you have to go to setting No 2. you could dim it utmost to -7( Yet still very bright)

What's the secret? I may have missed it in the manual but it isn't from not looking. I've been looking for a way to turn it off (other than the info button) since I purchased it.

Menu -> 1 (the first "page") -> tab #3 -> Instant Review: [OFF]

And on startup, press info twice.

Just picked up a K-5 two weeks ago.
I have the opposite problem. I turn on the camera and have the status screen on. I half press shutter release to autofocus, then complete the press to release the shutter.
After the instant review goes away, the status screen comes on for 1 second and then the screen goes black. I know the camera is still on because of the LCD in top, but the rear screen is dark.
I can either half press the shutter release or press info for the status screen to come back on, but this happens after every shot.
Is there a way I can get the status screen to stay on, or does this just happen to everyone's camera?
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately I don't have my camera with me at the moment to tell you exactly how to do it, but there is a menu item to set the duration.

These are the only related settings that I know of adjusting, so here is how I have it set up.
Menu Settings:
Set-up 1: Status Screen Box Checked.
Status Screen: Enable Checked
Auto Screen Rotation Checked
Display Color 2

Turn off the status screen and your camera will power on with the screen off. I've never found and use for the status screen except when shooting stars/the moon/on a tripod at night...but then again the k-5 also has a top lcd.

I believe that the INFO button toggles between status screen off / on and the electronic level. Push the INFO button a few times to see what toggles off and on. You might want to give the manual a looksie, too.

I have the manual in book form and electronic form, neither of which has anything I can use to get this screen to stay on.
If you want to see the condition that I am having, it is described in the manual on page 27 in the Memo, bullet point 4.
"The status screen will disappear if no operations are made within 30 seconds. Press the INFO button to display it again."
but one small detail is that it isn't 30 seconds, it's 2 seconds after the instant review.

If anyone would be so kind to take a look of this video I made of my settings and my condition, I would appreciate any help.
