Steve,

Nice job on the video. Very interesting. That sequence of your pooch trotting in for a quick stretch and roll was great and shows how much we all have in common on this little planet.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Just had 2 SMC Pentax-M Lenses given to me.

A F2.8 28mm and a F3.5 135mm

Had a little play and after reading how to do the metering Im really pleased.

I did get the old Double Slap when I 1st tried the lenses but seems ok now, hopefully the weather will hold so I can use it in anger!

Cheers Steve

Nothing that a lil bit of fine silica sandpaper won't fix. Just observe what part of the mount is over the camera contacts, then remove it and lightly sand the surface of the lens mount in that spot so the contacts get shorted.

Scored some more Pentax Kit thanks to Freecycle

Cameras are a P50 and a Program A with ME II power grip.

Lenses, Pentax A 50mm F2, 70-210 F4, Vivitar 28mm F2 close focus and a massive 400mm F5.6 telephoto.

The kit will be split some of it to me and the rest to a young chap down Cornwall who is going to Study photography in College.

Cheers Steve

Wow! Good score. Hell that 400mm, depending on what it is, could net you a nice little sum if you decide to sell it.

Its a Vivitar lens, didnt get a good review from here.

Im keeping the 28mm F2 Vivitar lens, a Pentax-A 50mm F2 Pentax-M 175mm F3.5 and the Vivitar 400mm lens.

Im send the P50 down with a Pentax-M 28mm F2 and a Pentax-A 70-210mm, hopefully that will sort him out with the basics for his A-level, I done mine with a T90 and a 50mm lens

Cheers Steve

The 50mm f./2 is a humble lens, a cheapie, but still a good producer. I use mine quite often on extension tubes for macro in the 1:1-1.5:1 range.

Even if the 400mm isn't wonderful, you can have a lot of fun with it. Heck, if you're not expecting much anyway, why not slap a 2x TC on the end, and see if you can photograph something in the next county over.

Great video of that engine. So, let me see if I get it right regarding the video. I zoom in on my kid playing, tell her to stand still for a second, the camera focuses, I press record and as long as I don't mess with the zoom, the video is ok. If I zoom in/out, I'll have to switch to MF and use the focusing ring to re-focus. Did I get that right?
