19,814 since August 2011. Most of it street photography. I have learned a lot with this camera.

The number of shots on any one camera are so dependent on what you shoot. Landscape photography means many less images than sports for example. My K-r which I have had for about a year and a half has just under 9K on it. I do also shoot three other cameras (all film) as well. Next week I am shooting a rodeo so expect many more images that day than a day of hiking about.

I think that a very high shutter count would lower the value of the camera as I suspect that the average person would want one with the lower count if presented with the two options.

So I was surprised I am only at 4096 - I've had my K-r since last September. Yesterday I was at the Manitoba Stampede in Morris and racked up a record for me of 360 shots at the rodeo!

Normally I shoot (but only in a photographic sense) wildlife and pets.

Just curious, does anyone know what the rating is for the k-r shutter?

It's rated for 100k actuations, but that is not a hard limit. That's just the minimum that should be expected, barring malfunction/premature failure.

Mine is pushing 28k now. I haven't shot nearly as much this summer as last. Too busy with other stuff, unfortunately.
