Viewfinder info readout

Is it possible to brighten the LCD info readout that you see thru the viewfinder? (f/stop, shutter speed, etc).
I find it hard to see as it seems dim. Looked thru a friends Canon the other day it was nice and bright - easy to see.
Thanks in advance...

Not that I know of, but you could try using a different eyecup that provides more shade.

Can you get a different one than what's currently on it?

This is definitely one of the low points of the K-r. Usually not enough to really interfere with shooting, but it's still substandard. Even if it weren't brighter, if it were just a bit higher, closer to the bottom of the visible frame, it would be much easier to use.
