Accidentally Took Picture At 8000 ISO - Better Than Expected

I accidentally took a picture of my brother's cat at 8000 ISO. I am not sure how it happened. I had to lay down at a weird angle and I guess I ended up hitting the ISO button and raising it. It was a weird angle to be laying down in, so I'm pretty sure that's how it happened. To my surprise, the picture came out way better than expected. I converted it to black and white and did a couple of other things to it but did no noise reduction to the photo.

This definitely increased my confidence in the Kr's ability to handle high ISO's. I was using the flash, but I'm not sure if that helped to keep the noise down.

I used my Kr, Metz 50, and a Tamron 28-75 2.8.

Amazing. I took some pictures at iso 12800 and they were usable. Awesome.

Lovely shot! I got some pics at 3200 ISO yesterday that I thought ended up quite nice, but have never tried up to 8000. I have my camera topped off at 3200 when I use Auto ISO. Based on your result, maybe I should change that.

Here's my 3200 ISO shot. I do find converting to b/w helps with high ISO if desirable.

The low light/high ISO performance is a major reason why I chose the K-r.
