K-r shims

Has anyone received focusing screen shims from Pentax for their K-r? I replaced my screen a few months back. At the time it seemed to focus fine without any shims. Now it seems like it needs a tad of shimming. I called Pentax parts and they are sending me a shim kit, but I am a little suspicious because she said that most K dSLR's take the same shims. I don't think that that is true, but I guess I will find out more once I receive them. Just wondering if anyone has used the Pentax metal shims for their K-r.

When you refer to focusing problems, are you talking about manual focus or auto-focus? If it is your auto-focus that is off, you should make your adjustments via the menu. If it is manual focus with the stock screen that is off, this is a first I've heard of this kind of problem.

Here is a link to my previous discussion on adjusting the auto-focus for your K-r.

I replaced the screen with one from focussingscreens.com, so I am no longer using the stock screen. I don't want to use the floppy shims that came with the kit. I am just wondering if anyone has purchased the metal shims from Pentax for their K-r. I was told that they should be the same as the ones for other K cameras. I am just a little skeptical of that.

I think there are two different sizes of shims. The ones for the lower end cameras (K200D, K-x, K-r etc) are different from those for the higher end cameras (K20D, K7, K5 etc).

I recently re-shimmed my K200D to improve manual focus with my Katzeye screen and now it's spot-on.

I might try and use one, but stacking them is hella difficult. I did have one in there before. I might have been too quick to remove it, or maybe I need one that is even thinner. Last resort will be scotch tape, but I really want to go plug and play on this if you get my drift.

I stacked three of them in my K-x. Stack them by hand, then use the pliers supplied to put them in place. It will work, eventually.
