I cant get my external flash to fire in manual mode

It's an old flash (yes i checked the trigger voltage), it fires fine in Auto, but I have a manual lens im trying to use it with and I cant figure out how to get it to fire in manual mode...

Any advice appreciated!

In manual mode, do you remember to have your shutter slower than 1/160?

That's it! My shutter was too fast. Hmm... That is rather disappointing, is there any way to use a faster shutter with a flash?

External flash need to have the option to use HSS before it will allow faster shutter speeds. I just bought the Pentax AF360FGZ that allows this function.

Not if your flash don´t support Hss shooting, sorry

It's actually 1/180s or slower. That works if one uses 1/2 EV steps instead of 1/3 EV steps.
