Hello everyone!!!
I'm using a K-r and the cheap chinese remote-even it is a really great piece for it's price!- doesn't work at bulb mode!!What I mean is that I can't hold the button for a long exposure shot on buld??Does anyone know if the Pentax IR Remote Control will work on that on my K-r???
Thanks in advance!!!!

No..Pentax Ir is a simple remote. You will need a shutter release to hold and stay held until release.

I use something like this can connects to the PC port. Don't know if the KR has something like that.

K-r has only a something-like-miniUSB port that you connect the camera to your pc and just transfer files...is there any shutter release device with this port on it???

I have a Sony TV remote (RM-YD014) and it works with the KR during 'continuous press' Bulb mode. This thing is really quite good as it also does continuous shooting and continuous shooting in Catch in Focus. My wife won't let me take it very far thought!

K-5 (and I think K-7) has menu option so first press opens, second press closes -- no need to hold button. No such option on K-r?

Yes there is but as the press on press off is the default mode just assumed he wanted to use the other option.

The K-r has a menu option for using the IR remote for Bulb shutter - press & hold, or press twice (once for open, second for close). Given that any beam interruption will close the shutter on press & hold, unless the shutter is only open a few seconds, press twice is the safer option.

It does seem the only sensible way to use bulb mode, which I assume will involve the shutter open at least 30 seconds (otherwise why use bulb?)...

I didn't realize the Pentax IR remote generated enough heat to shoot fireworks. I'm sorry, I just couldn't help myself.

Out of curiosity, what ISO, aperture and focal length do you commonly use to photograph fireworks?
