Third Party D-LI109 Rechargeable Batteries

Hello,
Happy Saturday, or Sunday; depending on where you are.

Can anyone tell me if they have used third party D-LI109 rechargeable batteries with their K-r?

I'm going on a photo shoot next weekend, need some major back-up and want to know if the third party batteries are reliable to use.

Thanks!

I don't have a Kr, but I use a 3rd party battery purchased from BH in my K5 with no issues. I couldn't tell you which was which unless I looked at it.

I use third party batteries for my K-20 but they are DL-150 not the same as you use and have had great performance. $13.99

YOUBATT.com or something like that

I've used the Pearstone-branded ones that B&H sells (various models), no troubles. You do hear horror stories about some of the third party ones though. Read lots of reviews for the brand, not just the specific one you need. Some of them are obviously highly unreliable.

Thanks all,
I just went ahead and ordered a couple via Amazon. I probably should have ordered a couple different brands, but I got a 2-pack.

Hopefully they will be ok. they have an 18mo warranty.

I use a 3rd party battery from Amazon with no problems. I also use a 3rd party AA adapter that works great, have batteries from my Km. Only once did I need to buy AA's because I didn't grab a charged battery but I got my shots. I wouldn't be without the AA adapter

I wanted to get 1 rechargeable and an AA adapter, but there were no bundles that had both in them on Amazon so I got the 2-pack on the rechargeable. I'd like to have the AA adapter as well

I use 2 of the chinese batteries in my kr. Never had any issues. The capacity is the same as the OEM battery. If you have the money then by all means get the Pentax batteries. Just keep this in mind, most OEM batteries are probably made in China as well so other than some sort of warranty i don't think there is an advantage to using the OEM batteries.Just my $.02

Some of the off-brands are most definitely crap. Some are not. It is hit or miss. OEMs are pretty much solid 99% of the time.

I agree with you on that.I guess the off brands are so cheap one can afford to gamble.I used them on my canon XTI and my D3000 as well and had good luck so far.

As I said above, I've had no problems with the Pearstones from B&H for various cameras (which are about half of the OEMs), but I wouldn't bother with the super-cheapies at some other places where 80% of the reviews indicate trouble.

Yes I use one in my Kr without issue. I find it doesn't have quite as many shots in it as the original, but hey it cost less than a third of an original.

I also picked up a no-name battery for my K-r. No problems at all. In fact it seems to last a little longer than the one that came with the camera. It was $20 with shipping. (April 2011.)

Great. It sounds like they aren't a big risk. They're definitely inexpensive. I got two batteries, a mini charger and a bag for them for 30 bucks.
