AA battery adapter

Just for fun, I ordered one from China off ebay for 3.99...doesn't work with alkaline AAs...says battery depleted...guess it's defective. Anyone else have problems with one of these?

If the display is showing "depleted" then it seems likely that the holder is working. Are you the batteries are in good shape. The other thing is that, with my K-x (which is much the same as the K-r):
1. when using batteries I need to put them is for a quite a few seconds before I turn on the camera - otherwise I get a false reading.
2. Alkalines don't perform very well in these cameras. They drop in voltage fairly quickly and don't take many photos. You need some good NiMh batteries like Eneloops.

The camera has a menu option for AA batteries. The default is 'Auto'. I would suggest you not use 'Auto' and take the option to specifically tell the camera what type of AA battery you are using - alkaline, NiMH, and so on.

I bought two of the $3.99 battery adapters. I tried one with Eneloops, works great. The other I converted to an AC power adapter, also works great.
