Hi Guys.

I have a few flash/speedlite related questions. What exactly is the difference between something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YONGNUO-560-II-Flash-Speedlite-For-Canon-Nikon-Pen...ht_4292wt_1397


and the more expensive (http://www.pentaximaging.com/accessories/AF540FGZ). Is it just a case of one being Pentax brand and the other being a cheaper third party one? Will they both offer the same features and would I be able to trigger the flash wirelessly?

Secondly I'm still deciding whether I want a normal flash or one specific for macro, if I was after one to use for macro what would you advise? a ring flash?

Generally that's the distinction, yes, but I'll let someone with actual experience with both flashes to chime in on that.

Have you looked at Metz flashes, though? Their big flashes aren't quite as flimsy as the Pentax 540, which doesn't get the best reviews.

The non-Pentax flash you mention is strictly manual control. If you would never use any automated capabilities anyway, no sense spending money on them. But if you don't have them in the first place, you can't exactly change your mind. See the guide linked above.
