I helped a friend into Pentax a few days back, buying a used K-r. Mirror flopping/double/multiple flapping when pressing the Green Button. Last owner did not aware of this problem since he uses Pentax 'modern' AF lenses always. Latest firmware. Did not have AA battery bracket, so untested if it makes difference.

No issues so far with AF lenses without aperture ring (tested with 18-55 kit and Sigma 18-200), partial issue using AF lenses with with aperture ring (only when off the 'A' setting/ engaging manual aperture), on 'A' lenses when off the Auto Aperture setting, and on M42 & K lenses almost always, comes and goes.

So, is this officially a mechanical problem, needing a trip back to Pentax repair shops, or are there workarounds?
