Sorry, never had a bad Tamron so have not opened one. Have repaired a few Pentax and have to say if you open the base there is a world of
tiny bits there waiting to drive you Mad. So look at the simple things first.
Did it work the last time, was it dropped or something ? I would have doubts about that switch, if it is not moving all the way it is probably the most
likely thing. After all it is designed to stop the zoom.

Does it zoom when it is not attached to the camera?

You might have more success in asking in a different section of the forum, like the General Troubleshooting section.

It wasnt dropped. The zoom when detached from the camera still wont zoom. Its stuck on 18mm and it wont move at all. I really dont know what to do, its great lens, but i just need like a generally understanding how to fix it

Pentax K-R Tamron Lens DI2 18-250

Which thread would you like us to help you in? I believe it is frowned upon to create a new thread everyday because you don't have a solution yet. Especially since this is not really K-r related... IMO, some of the best members who could answer you, don't pay attention to the K-r forum.

Anyway, if the lens still won't zoom when it is off the camera, then you can eliminate the K-r being the problem. Now you are left with a lens problem.
If the zoom lock is disengaged, then it should be zooming.
If a thorough search of this forum, then finally asking this question and not getting a solution, I would probably contact Tamron and ask them about it.
Since all of that takes time, you could take the lens to your local camera shop and they might be able to provide a solution (free of charge or with charge).

By the sounds of it, your lens is broken and needs to be replaced with a DA*.

Broken Tamron zoom

Your problem sounds like the same thing I had with a brand new Pentax DA 55 - 300mm lens. It had to be replaced under guarantee. In your case, it needs a repair. This story is to show that Pentax lenses are no immune to this sort of thing.
