As others have already said the K-r is a great camera but the K-30 is so much better that it is certainly worth spending a bit more for it unless you are on a very strict and tight budget.

Apart from the weather sealing (which was important for me) the AF is far ahead of the K-r, in particular for tracking moving subjects such as people doing sports, birds, racing cars and so on.
External P-TTL flash is also much more reliable on the K-30, though still far from perfect (that seems to have been finally sorted out with the K-3)

The K-r is a great camera, and I love mine. But for that price and given the age of the K-r if you shop around you should be able to get a K-30 for the same price.

Ye, any K-r's available will be whatever stock is left behind and they are just selling off. I'm seeing a lot of secondhand K-r's in camera shops now so it seems a fair number of people are/ have upgraded.

And, due to the magic of price vs. demand, the prices should be really high!

I would think that if the price of K-r is really high, I would rather buy a K5ii or K5IIs

Here's one example:

Used Pentax KR +18-55 DAII | London Camera Exchange - Gloucester

£249. When I bought mine it was £399 so that's fairly expensive. I have seen them for over the £300 mark as well. It's a good camera but it makes no financial sense to buy one unless it is cheaper than that.

Guys, keep in mind the OP is talking about a PURPLE one. I think that alone elevates its value a little.
But I do agree that considering price and technology, the K-r is not the best choice anymore. Used K-5, K-30 would be better choices.

that being said, I still like my K-r. Which reminds me, I need to get its sensor cleaned..

I am a happy owner of a KR with 21.000+ shots on it wich except 500, are all done by me.
At the time, a year and some monhts ago, that was the camera I could buy and the camera I thought it was the best option to upgrade my k110d.

That said, I love how fast does it shoot, I love motorsport photography, and so I needed a fast body; plus it's high ISO is great. I have no regrets on it's AF or it's tungsteen lighting, or even at low ISO.

Never the less, I have been thinking on the K30 when buying the K-r.

And now, a qüestion for everybody that has moved on from a K-r.
I found myself the other day wondering if there is an affordable good option to improve from my K-r.
My main purposes are: Motorsport Photography, so nothing slower than 6fps as the K-r has, would be an option; plus I loved the colours my K110D had, and low ISO and high ISO pictures would be a great plus to have.

That said, do you guys know if there is any option out there for me? I don't use sealed lenses; and so a sealed body is not essential to me; but of course would be nice.
THANKS!
