battery longevity question

How long does your K-r battery last?

I have 2 batteries (a Promaster and a Wasabi) and they seem to last a little longer than when I use to use AA batteries.
I have a friend that has a k20 and she says her batteries last for ever - like a month or two.

The K-r's Li-ion batteries have a lower capacity than the K20D's, so that would make sense. However, third-party batteries also tend to offer slightly worse performance than oem batteries, so if you're dissatisfied with the longevity I'd recommend picking up a Pentax battery.

Well, also depends what you do. Screen brightness, photo viewing, video recording, live view, how much processing is done in-camera, how many photos you take.. all of this affects battery life. Possibly even outside effects like temperature

And how often you use the onboard flash. In my K-30, I've found the
Li-ion Pentax and off brand, neither battery lasts as long as using the adapter battery with Eneloops.

My KR can take hundreds of photos on one charge of the Pentax block battery, around 150-350 depending upon temperature, how much I use the screen etc. Switch the screen off and you get much longer battery life. In addition I rarely use the flash which will also have a significant impact on how many pictures you will get per charge. I do have a couple of the cheap AA adaptors and I have bought some good quality rechargeable batteries, a set of four AA batteries gives a better battery life than the Pentax block does. I have taken over 450 photos on one charge of the AA batteries, though in cold conditions that may drop to below 200. Low temperatures have a substantial effect upon battery life.
