Since my K-30 bit the dirt due to the aperture solenoid failure, I had to start using the K-r I'd purchased for my wife. Other than the rather dim pentamirror viewfinder, the K-r seems to be up to the task. Today, I was testing a new (used) DA 55-300MM lens just received from Japan for only $134 shipped. The camera was set at IOS 400. Norfolk Southern EMD SD-70ACU #1150 was exposed @ F5.6 1/1500 sec at 97.5mm . Image cropped significantly and resampled to save at 300 dpi. #9226, a GE Dash 9_44CW was also shot at 97.5MM and exposed @ f5.6 1/1000 sec. Camera was on action/sports mode.

I would like to see an APSC camera with 10-12 megapixels but with the current image processors. Sometimes, less is more.
It's been a few years since I sold my Pentax Kr, but sometimes I miss it. These photos are all with the Tamron 70-300 300mm and f5.6

With SMC-M 100/4. My K-r is still going strong (being my most "modern" body...).

Did you do a lot of sharpening on these? My Tamron 70-300mm LD Di is definitely not that sharp... or maybe by f11 it might be, but not wide open like in your shots! I'm thinking you have a great copy of it...

Thank you, those photos are taken with the Pentax Kr (12 mp), therefore an undemanding sensor with the lenses.

At that time I shot in JPG, and just adjusted the levels a bit with Photoscape, very little editing.

Greetings

I shot with a K-r for a couple of years, with the Tamron. I could never get anything like what you are getting, so I'm very jealous of your abilities

Thanks for commenting on how you got the pictures.
