It requires you to get your eye very tight up to the eyecup to get a full view of the viewfinder which is slightly tricky. It does make it easier to focus manually which was why I personally got it. Another advantage is that I found it easier to make a shield to stop light getting in when doing exposures around 20-30 seconds. Mine is just a piece of black Plasticard cut to shape but it slots in nicely and works well.
Thank you. I did buy one of these the other day. Haven't had much chance to use it yet though.
I still found it hard to see and focus the one time I had a decent amount of time using it, but it was very dark conditions and I think it would always be an issue when it's like that.
