Lens: DA 15mm Limited Camera: K-7 Photo Location: Dayton, OH ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: >6s Aperture: F8

A quick line of thunderstorms moved across the area last night. I decided to try my luck at capturing some lightning, and so I set up a tripod just inside my garage door (where it was still dry) and pointed my new DA 15mm limited to the sky across the street. I only had to shoot 20-second exposures for about 4 minutes before I captured this lucky shot. And then, as quickly as it rolled in, the storm was gone.

Indeed wonderful capture. Care to comment about why you selected the 15mm over the 12-24mm? I'm wrestling with the same issue now...

Thanks, everyone. Sometimes you just get lucky.

As for the lens selection, I never looked too hard at the DA 12-24, because I was attracted to the small size of the 15mm. I know the prime gives up a little versatility, and in this case maybe even some sharpness. But since I got my first Limited lens, I'm addicted to those little metal gems. And since I have a 16-50mm, there would be a lot of overlap with the 12-24. The 15 seemed like enough to cover a little wider FOV, and at the same time provide a small, walkaround alternative to the big, clunky 16-50. The 12-24 is also big and clunky, so wouldn't give me the small option. If I want anything even wider, and am willing to buy a big lump of glass to get that, I'd probably go extra wide and get a Sigma 10-20mm or even the 8-16mm when it comes out (if it proves to be any good).
