Very nice macro shots as usual Rense.Since I'm new to the macro world a couple of questions--How far from lens to subject and do you crop the original shot to get your final keeper and how much cropping?--charliezap

Thank you Charlie! With this 55mm lens, the subjects are about 2" from the front edge of the lens barrel. And cropping? #1&3 no, #2&4 yes, about 25% (so I kept about 75 of both sides......)

I now see that with a good lens you can get real close to your subject. Now i don't feel so bad that i'm shooting my macros from 1-2ft and only getting half decent shots and really cropping them to boot--charliezap

We have some quite common species over here. They are hard to shoot though, because they run very fast! Thank you for looking!!

Charlie, I like that shot!
My macro photos improved dramatically when I got me a 1:1 macro lens, instead of a 1:2 lens......
