Some shots at the local Little League ball park. Lighting was poor as it was late evening, so I was shooting at iso 800-1600. Some shots to share

The action shot is fantastic - the play at home really grabs me.

If you were able to make it perfect, a shallower depth of field, to keep the viewer from noticing the spectators' legs so much.

The first pic confuses me. The further objects, that might be blurred if out of focus, just seem to have high-ISO noise. But the close objects are not noisy.

How does this happen?

Thanks Steve. Unfortunately I was already wide open on my lens, so the blurring of the legs would have to be a PP add in.
As for your noisy question, I did run some of the shots thru Neat Image software to reduce some of the noise.
I am waiting for a sunny Saturday to get shots at lower ISO and higher shutter speeds, until then it is push the limits

You have kids moving fast, get a constant f/2.8 lens. That's what I ended up doing (both acquired used via the marketplace):

Sigma 24-60mm F2.8 EX DG

Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 Di LD Macro

Between outdoor sports and indoor events, I don't know what I'd do without them.

That is my wish list, especially the 70-200 f2.8. One of these days, until then I push the limits with my good old 55-300

Nice shots Scott. I especially like the "action" photo of the play at home.
The 55 - 300 seems to do fine - even with "action" shots - once the sun comes out. The nice thing about baseball season is there are always more games - with a chance for "better" (I.e. sunny) weather.
