Aphid life - Vivitar 55mm/2.8 1:1 macro + 93mm extension tubes
Lens: Vivitar 55/2.8 1:1 macro + 93mm extension tubes Camera: K20D Photo Location: home sweet home ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/60s Aperture: F16

Pfffff... that is not easy. So much magnification (about 2.5:1 ?) and a DOF that is less than nothing .
These are not the best photos as far as composition, bokeh, lighting and even focus point is concerned,
but I wanted to show you these just to push myself just one step further. Sorry if you feel abused !

These photos are only cropped on the long side, to get squares....

#1: Bad news: I've got aphids on my red currants

#2: And even worse: they can fly in certain stadia

#3: And they are even looked after

So, just for your relief: these are the last macro photos I'm planning to post for some days at least

Very nice captures! I'd like to take my Voigt 125mm Macro out for an exercise too, but we still have about 30cm of snow even though it's been melting for a month already. Not much to shoot yet, macro wise

Pffff.... 30cm of snow . I'm glad we are a bit more to the South, I couldn't stand such long winters.... Good luck!
And thanks for your kind words!

Nice series of photos. BTW what is the name of the font that you are using? Very stylish.

Funny, I just photographed aphids on a rose. Nowhere near as close or impressive as your shots though! Pentax 35mm f2.8 macro.

Rense, these are more than nice photos, it is macro work at its best. I know how small these critters are and the challenges involved. Thanks for posting these.
