Sports Transition One

I don't shoot sports often but I had the opportunity to shoot my son as he came out from the swimming leg in a recent triathlon competition. One of the infrequent times that I'm not using a Pentax.

ISO 500, 1/320 sec at f/7.1
EOS 1Ds Mark III with Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 L IS USM

He's just turned 11.

Typical week for him is:
Swim on Tue, Thu & Sat for 2 hours
Gym work, bike and swim sprints for 2 hours on Wed
Runs about 5-6 km on Fri
Bikes about 25km and runs 2-3 km on Sun
Still has to balance schoolwork though...

... I can't find a 300mm f/2.8 AF lens for Pentax...
