tasteful series, woman bathing in the river
Posted By: little laker, 07-29-2007, 11:10 PM

While I was out flyfishing this woman started taking a bath, so I asked her if I could take some tasteful pictures of her.
I had to promise her that she couldn't be recognized, but that's what I wanted and easy

Oh, before anyone asks the fish pictures will come tomorrow on another thread

Tastefully done Stu, and nicely captured. I would hope with something that sweet to attract the fish you had a good day fishing. I like the series.

Yes, tastefully done and beautifully shot Stu. The contrast of the sky and the darker water with the reflections and the bathing woman all together create a lovely mood. To ask her in the first place you've got more guts than I have Stu. Is that her husband/boyfriend in the background?

Paul

PS: I thought Canada would open up more photographic opportunities for me especially for wildlife, but now I can see it may open up broader horizons - you don't come across many maidens bathing in our local River Mersey!

Very nice, but...

The other person in the BG should probably be cloned out.

A bit of a distraction in the beautiful scenery.

Stu. I know you did not ask but I would like to give my thoughts if okay? If not I can edit and delete my comments.

Not sure I like these all. I am not sure the women really adds much to these shots. Maybe it is the angle or that the sun is so overpowering. I actually like the shot less the bather and the fisherman. If I had to pick I think the last one is the best of the bunch as you get more of the women in the shot and you can make her out. Again, only my thoughts and can delete if you like.

Stu, I'm trying to figure these out. The title would imply that she was nude, as one normally takes a bath sans clothing. She clearly has a bathing suit or similar on. I find the person off to the right in the background distracting and makes the shots look more like a snap shot.

So I'm trying to figure out if you were testing us to see how observant we are.

Thanks everyone.
I don't know if I can clone out Phil from the background. I could easily remove him, but the ripples would still be there
I'll make another post later showing a few fish and talk about him then, it was a treat fishing with one of the best

No prob vievetrick, I'm pretty sure that I have a pic just for you without anyone in frame. I'll look for it soon

Peter, I considered it a bath the moment that she pulled out the shampoo and washed her hair

I've never taken a nude photo in my life, but if I ever do it isn't too likely that they'll get posted on an open forum. Sorry.
If Mo ever adds an adult section then there's a good chance they'd end up in there.
E-mails a possibility as well.

Stu, Don't get me wrong (and I'm not a prude) I really don't like nudes. Frankly I find them totally boring (never shot one myself either and most likely never will) and I hope than Adam NEVER adds that to the site. There's enough elsewhere on the 'net. Plus I like the fact that I could and do regularly show this site comfortably to my wife or sons, all of whom are learning photography.

I now get your title a bit better with your explanation.

No worries Peter, and I like this site being child friendly. I hope that it stays that way.

I must admit I like tasteful nudes where everything is left to the imagination. If I ever take any that's all that I'll take.

OK, now it's my turn to rant

1. pictures: maybe I have bad monitor, but the Sun in your pics is overpowering, and to see anything else, I really had to squint and focus. And even then I could not see much. Now that my spit glands are dry, I can say something positive. Positive thing about these pics is that this technique might be something worth investigating further, like using flash, maybe using it on architecture or who knows what. Maybe I'll invesitigate it...you gave me an idea

2. nudity on this site: hmm, it is true that there are tons of sites with nudes (pr0n) on the internet and that this should be child-friendly site. However, I had no problem with nudes photographed by W.Bischoff (see Phaidon 55 series). They were tasteful and had no pornographic feel to them.
BTW, this is not a statement that I want nudity gallery. I just say that it is possible to have that kind of pics and not have pornography.

Thanks for the comments Branimir, you'll be happy to know that the technique will work really nicely with architecture. That is as long as you don't mind doing a HDR

Although I like the sky and solar effects it blackens everything else.

I might have 1 on my computer, I'll take a look later
