Wish I had..
Lens: Sigma 70-300mm Camera: K100D Photo Location: My backyard ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/750s Aperture: F9.5

Couple of these guys hovering on plants around my yard. Couldn't resist taking a few shots. Do wish I had the proper equipment to do real justice to these guys, ie, macro.

The last shot is great. These are quite great considering the lens you used BTW, you have dust on your sensor- lower-left corner

I really love the way the background worked out in the last shot.

And they are all really good. Remember that when you get a real macro lens you will curse the depth of field, especially for dragonflies.

So then you will set F/22, and then need ISO 6million, and then need a big flash, and a ringflash, and then spiral down into pain and dispair.

Not that that has happened to me.... yet *thumbs through catalogue*

Adam, thanks for the compliment. And yes, I saw the dust but not until I had uploaded that shot. It's gone now though.

eaglem, thanks. This lens has a macro setting though not true 1:1 it does a nice job when you need to get closer and 300mm isn't enough.

Jer, thanks for the compliment.

JesseDavis. Thanks.
It will be awhile before I can get any macro lens or go the way of Rense and get bellows. Not sure yet, even, which way I'll do that.

Nice dragonflies!. I use the Sigma also and have had some very nice close-ups too. I have recently aquired a macro and also some extension tubes but you need to get much closer to the dragonflies and they usually don't like that. Your lens is a very good, reasonably priced tool for those kind of close up shots. Well done.

Thanks for the compliment reeftool, and comments. I used this lens set on macro to shoot that hawk in flight that time too. It gets me closer that's for sure.
