Lens: Sigma 105mm and M 50mm reversed Camera: K-7
Posted By: yeatzee, 05-18-2010, 11:27 AM

Sorry, no bugs this time

I was walking along with my macro setup in search of insects, but alas could not find any. I did notice all the water droplets everywhere so I thought I'd give it a shot. I had to get into quite the awkward position for this picture

I only had the chance to take 10 shots before having to leave, and that includes shots taken to get the settings down :ugh:

Well anyways here's the photograph:

That's almost the perfect shot! Very well cone! I would only add just a tiny bit more color to it

The diagonal line spanning from one corner to the other with a light offset, DOF effect, and sharpness of the reflection in the upper droplet make for a fatastic composition!

Hey I got a response!

Its a fairly desaturated version of the picture (tend to like toned down images when not shooting insects). Im glad you like it! Should I crop more of the right hand side so its more corner to corner?

C&C welcome guys, dont be shy!

Nope, I don't think it needs any cropping at all- the slight offset works here, I think! Also, check this out: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentaxforums-com-news/101978-lets-get-posting.html

Like Adam said, an almost perfect picture, perhaps if you focused slightly higher on the middle dew drop, but it's still a great shot, keep it up!

By the way Yeatzee, I've been meaning to ask, what lens did you use to take this picture?

If I focused any differently the refraction wouldn't have been in focus making it an entirely boring image IMO

No problem I used my sigma 105mm macro set to 1:1 and my M 50mm F/1.7 reversed ontop of it via tape. Than I cropped

I'm still an amateur at this, so what do you mean by "M 50mm F/1.7 reversed on top"?

Cool shot, yes I'm very curious to about your macro setup.

You already used the 105mm Macro sigma I'm guessing using the 50mm was to increase magnification?
