Seeing Things Again
Posted By: SCGushue, 07-31-2007, 08:27 PM

I have been reviewing images from a two day rapid fire trip through Nevada and southern Utah last year, trying to learn lessons from previous shoots. I'll be returning there this fall for a weeks worth of photography so I have to correct previous errors and open up new insights into desert imaging.

Sometimes, I see these images for the first time as I disect them. This image, photographed in the harsh light of day is a small portion of a two image mosaic.

Does anyone else see the obvious that obvioiusly is not obvious... but is?

I'll be posting more of the images I just passed over last year as time for PP allows.

Stephen

Hee hee ... I see it too.

I'd say try taking a similar shot just before sunrise ... and during sunrise.
The colours will be fantastic in the rocks ... especially at dawn and dusk.

Hmmmm...

I see a definite face - very detailed - can't see a foot, though...

I see the face. This has the making of a new game. Kind of a were's Waldo type thing.

OK, so I looked again and with lots of imagination (for me that is) a foot as seen from the bottom can be seen on the lower right.
Did anyone spot the deer?

Cheers

I love the colours, the rugged contours and the repeating diagonal lines of the rock formations/mountains which both help to link the elements in the picture and give it added depth.

Face: yes; foot: yes (same place as face?); deer: is this a real one Jan (in which case I'll need to get my binoculars out) or another natural sculpture? Oh, I think I've just spotted something coming down the photo along a diagonal line from the face? Could still do with the binoculars to be sure.

Like others, I see the face but not the foot, but what I think is striking is the 2 identical rock/shadow formations in the mid ground, descending from left towards the center.

No binoculars needed Paul
The 'deer' is just a shadow outline 3/4 down on the left.
