Hi,

The real reason why I got the DA L 55-300: Auto Racing!

Autocross action from today at the Puerto Rico International Speedway, Salinas Puerto Rico.

Pentax K100DS
DA L 55-300

hmmm I wonder if my wife would let me race her little SUV....

Yes, this lens is remarkably sharp. I shot most of these in Av @ f8, some at f16 or f22 to force a slower shutter speed. I really like this lens.
The only issue I've found is that it suffers from a tiny hair of back focus which is not correctable in my K100DS. But it is only noticeable (barely) at wide open. Not really a big deal.

I too love the DA-L 55-300 and find no optical compromises from the regular, more expensive version (I own both). And who says these older Pentax DSLR's can't handle action photography. Who needs a Canikon

Pentax is great in that even the kit lenses rock.

Terrific racing shots - great job. Yeah, that DA 55-300 is a super lens - particularly for what it costs. I use mine alot.
