Sweet. I have never seen that kind of bird at the south end of the bay. Guess I will have to Google "red bird Dadipentak NationalGeographic" to see more about it.

So how is that new monopod working out with the 400/2.8 you used on the red bird?

It's a Scarlet Tanager (not to be confused with Teenager ;~) I haven't taken the new 'pod out for a real spin as yet but I hit the weights yesterday.

Wow - when they gave this bird the name of SCARLET, they weren't kidding. I guess I've never seen one of these or any bird covered with such bright red. Neat shot with the bird among the equally red cheries.

Aw, that little birdie is just beautiful and that shot is too! This is why I want a long zoom for my old Pentax. I don't need one for school, strictly speaking, but I dearly love photographing birds and other small creatures that fly and sit way up in trees. I'm always going around with my bird guide and some old binoculars trying to ID the ones I see, but so far I don't have anything to capture them with so I can have permanent pics of the ones I spot.
