Not much to get really, I saw some salt, saw some chilli flakes.. poured them out onto the table together and snapped away! :P

I like the idea, but I think too much of the photo is OOF. Perhaps a top down shot would have worked better?

Matt, I agree actually.. I did upload that at around 1:30am so everything was just a bit blurry to me at that hour :P

Douf, I get the idea of your capture here, although I don't share mischivo's enthusiasm about it.
The subject matter is all over the frame, making the eye 'wonder' around looking for something interesting to hone in on unsuccessfully.

Colours are too cool in #1 and too warm in #2.
The OOF areas are indeed distracting, but so are the in-focus areas.
The image lacks boldness and impact for its lack of pattern, texture or colour elements, along with quite flat lighting over the scene.

Particularly with food captures, the viewer should almost be able to sense the same smells and tastes that the photographer did when he/she captured it.
