Navy's 100th Birthday
Lens: K200/2.5 or DA*300 Camera: K-7 Photo Location: Victoria BC

It's the 100th Birthday of the Canadian Navy and the 150th for Fitsgard Lighthouse / Fort Rodd Hill. I didn't realize they had so much planned until we saw all of the ships down at the water (looking like they were all almost bumping into each other). There are ships from the US, Japan, France, New Zealand to name a few and it seems like there was some form of a demonstration planned every half an hour or so. I wasn't prepared for taking some serious shots, but thought i would share just the same.

Happy 100th Navy

Great shots, I see you braved the crowds to get a little closer to the action than I did.

First is the best. Third and fourth aren't great. They're both too busy, especially the former. There is too much to focus on, and my eyes wander (or, more accurately, jump around).

Thanks sebberry. With 2 small kids there was no way I was going to keep them away from everything....

Hey Mischiva. Thanks for the comments and you're right, they're not. Between a stroller, 2 young kids and the mayhem, I was happy to get a couple of handheld shots. Basically it was a family outing but since the subject was kinda cool, I thought I'd share....

I took a few pics of the fireworks but I wasn't preped for it (handheld with a K200/2.5). I'll look around to find your shots....

There are a few of us on the forum....I keep on meaning to book another meet this year but it'll have to wait a month or two...

Cheers,
Steve
