Hi,

My daughter was rehearsing for an upcoming recital. Formal pictures were taken by a friendly pro photographer in the dance studio. He had a lights setup that had me drooling all over. I talked to him briefly but he was quite busy.
So when I got home I took out my $50 eBay umbrella/strobe setup and despite my wife's and kid's laughter, I was able to get this halfway decent shot. I couldn't get a smile since she was exhausted

By the way, I used the DA-L 55-300 just to see how it would behave in this scenario. Floor doesn't help much either. But I had some fun experimenting.

I think that the floor does help, and that the shot came out fantastic. If she had a smile, it would have been perfect IMO.
