Kemah Channel - Scenes from a Hot Afternoon [8 IMG]

Here are some snapshots taken as we motored in the Kemah Channel that - I think - give a pretty good feel of a coastal channel on a very hot, very Lazy Monday afternoon.

Fuel Dock - we fill up here twice a year (whether we need it or not):

No need for the sign on my account - I'm not planning to dredge anywhere:

One of the zillion Jet Skis that dot the place in the summer:

While the channel was placid, these flags give an indication of the boisterous conditions we enjoyed after reaching Galveston Bay:

One of the locals looks for a cool shady spot beneath some pilings:

Fishing is popular on the channel almost all year around:

Hey, thanks, Dave. The area is a lot less classy than are the waters in your neck of the woods . . . . . . but we call it home (at least since 1995).

The next to last one reminds me of a couple of hot afternoons at Ricks Turtle Club.

Hey Ed, I assume you're talking about the Turtle Club on the north side of Clear Lake, which - as I'm guessing you know - is neither clear nor a lake, but a brackish estuary that feeds (primarily pleasure boats) onto Galveston Bay.

My wife and I, along with two other couples (older than us!), visited the Turtle Club a couple of years ago - great blues band, but the place was pretty rowdy for a bunch of geezers like us.
