Droplets on Maple Leaf
Lens: Pentax DA 50-200mm Camera: Pentax K200D Photo Location: Northern Adirondack Mountains ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/90s Aperture: F6.7
Posted By: Tamia, 06-16-2010, 01:00 PM

This came out better than I dared hope. Was shooting with a 50-200mm telephoto when I saw this upside down maple leaf on wet rock, in the spray of a waterfall. PP included adjusting curves and contrast, and converting to monochrome.

Fantastic shot! I would just clone out those extra spots in the background. It would also be nice if the whole stem would be visible. The leaf itself, however, is beautiful, sharp, and the B&W greatly enhances the contrast of the droplets.

Thanks very much, Adam. Cloning out the spots would be a good idea -- I'll do it. That's all there is of the stem. It seems to have been nipped off by sharp teeth. I was amazed when the veins on the leaf stood out so well, given the lens.

Thanks very much, Eaglem and Dave. Eaglem, never thought of trying this one in sepia. Thought I'd give it a try because you mentioned it.

I think that I prefer the b&w conversion, but the sepia is kind of nice, too.

I like both but I feel the Sepia breathes life into it. Your second shot is rather eye catching.
