Just want to know what people think on this. I am trialling Lightroom 3 and was playing with the Develop section and pushed the recovery and fill light to 100 and dropped the EV by 1.15 and this was born.

Very HDR-like.
I would try curves to boost the shadows and increase saturation to enhance that effect.
Still, the washed out effect looks pretty cool as is, if that's what you're going for.
