We attended the Highland Festival and games in Fergus Ontario today. Lots of brawny men in kilts! The 'heavy' competition was something to behold. Great, huge men hurling 56 pound balls into the air.

I have to go through all the RAW images I shot but here is one I like.

They spin around 3 times and wind them selves up holding the ball with one hand. Although his face is not entirely visible you can see the 56 pound ball in the air and the cloud of talc powder just snapped off his hand. He let out an ungodly scream - maybe Gaelic, I don't know - as he hurled the ball. Best distance for this competition was just over 40 feet.

Wow, nice capture I like that cloud of talc - looks like a canon shot.

You would have to be very trusting to stand in the crowd behind someone twirling around with that in their hands.

A different game this time. Called "weight over the bar" competitors must hurl, with one hand only, a 56 pound weight over the bar placed about 10 feet above the ground. Not the best composition but I like the look on his face.
